Kodi is written to work on numerous platforms and devices.
You can download the Kodi for the platform you are using from HERE . Apple products need a few work 'arounds' to get installed. The latest version (V 17.3) is called Krypton
Another version of Kodi is SPMC (Sempermax Media Centre). It is only for Android and is available from "Google Play".
SPMC is a specially written for Android Devices version of Kodi. For all intents and purposes they are exactly the same. Either works very well on any Android TV Box. But if you use a Tuner/Amp or Audio Visual Receiver, the audio options available in SPMC are certainly better. For playback using the audio from your TV or device, either should work perfectly well for you.
There are many links to websites and YouTube videos on how to setup Kodi/SPMC. There are 'one-click' Build addons which will go ahead and automatically install a wide range of addons and all the support links that are required for the unit to function. These one click "Build" options usually install many addons you won't even need!
In late 2016 Kodi went from version 16 (Jarvis) to Version 17 (Krypton). This was a major change in the look of Kodi/SPMC.
At the time of writing, SPMC is about to move to 17 as well with alpha releases of SPMC 17 available to download and try. SPMC 17 is based heavily on Krypton V17.
History says that more than likely you will only ever use a small number
of addons so to install a battery of them doesn't make sense.
I usually suggest people install Covenant, Exodus, Stream All The Soutces, Specto, and Elysium as their go-to Video Addons. I install "EZ Maintenance" and "Merlin Auto Cleaner" Ares Wizard as Program Addons which will keep Kodi/SPMC running lean and clean. Ares Wizard is a great easier way to install many of your addons.
The addon "MP3 Streams" seems to handle the music side of things. After setting your Kodi/SPMC there will be time for you to further explore possible Music Addons to suit your needs.
You will come to see there are literally hundred and hundreds of addons for you to install. They tend to come and go but regulars like Covenant, Exodus, Specto, Elysium and others mentioned above are usually very reliable.
Legal action has hit TV Addons (May 2017), the major storage website for Kodi addons. As a result of the threat to sue, TV Addons has now disappeared and kodi enthusiasts are in a state of plex as to what to do. Addon developers are now looking for safe places to store their addons for download.
With so many changes happening on a daily basis check out this link for installing your addons (link below). It is a list of the most popular downloaded addons as you can see from the screenshot above. Click on the addon you would like to try and you will find the most up to date instructions on how to install that addon.
